"The Challenges of Transport in a File Based Workflow"

Mr. Jack Linder, Senior Project Manager, CNN News Group

Implementation of a File Base Workflow provides new and exciting capabilities. For example, program material can be easily downloaded with minimal equipment, news crews can send video back using local Wi-Fi hotspots, and video can be viewed by producers and editors for commenting and approval.

However, this capability also creates challenges.  Success is more complex than just installing data lines.  The broadcaster needs to be able to use these resources to their full potential. Overcoming the problems of high-speed transmission over long distances and resource sharing, ensuring that you have the bandwidth needed, and the ability to plan for future needs are skills required to be successful. Join us at SCAD's new facility (former home of WXIA Channel 11) as we take a look at these new challenges.
